DESCRIPTION:We’re wrapping up our summer Pony Drive to the Oklahoma Route 66 Museum and Lamborn’s Route 66 Cafe in Clinton\, OK.  Here are the details:\n\nCONTACT INFORMATION: Questions? Contact the Pony Drive Coordinator \n\n\n\n\nName:   Jeff Zelnicek Number:(405)620-3160 and Doug Greer (while in Clinton): (580)515-3141 \n\n\n\n\n \n\n\n\n\nTime and Location:    We will meet at the ONCUE at 8:00 am\, leaving the parking lot at 8:30am. \n\n\nIt’s approximately 1 hr and 15 minutes to Clinton.  Arrive in Clinton about 9:45 am.  Start tour at \n\n\n10:00 am.  \n\n\n\n\n \n\n\n\n\nSafety concerns: \n\n\n\n\n \n\n\n\n\nA.Keep your headlights on for safety and to let traffic know where our last car is. \n\n\n\n\nB.Keep the gap between cars no more than 3-4 car lengths. \n\n\n\n\nC.Please\, no racing or driving irresponsibly. \n\n\n\n\nD.If you have OMC magnets\, please display on your car during the pony drive. \n\n\n\n\nE.The lead vehicle\, a vehicle in the middle of the cars and the tail car will all be in contact with one \n\n\nanother\, this allows the car closest to the event to notify the lead vehicle.  (Vehicle with a flat\, a group \n\n\nof vehicles have been separated at traffic lights etc…) \n\n\n\n\n \n\n\n\n\nDirections to the Destination:  Oklahoma Route 66 Museum\, 2229 W Gary Blvd Clinton\, OK 73601   \n\n\n\n\nThe cost for entry into the Museum is $7.00 per adult\, however\, the Museum has a group rate of $5.00 each if \n\n\nthe entry fee is paid at one time.  So with that being said we will collect the $5.00 before we go inside the \n\n\nmuseum.   \n\n\n\n\n \n\n\n\n\nA.Meet at ONCUE at 1000 N. Czech Hall Rd in Yukon (we have met there before) \n\n\n\n\nB.Exit ONCUE at the west end of the parking lot and turn right onto N. Czech Hall Rd. (N. Czech Hall Rd. \n\n\nbecomes Cornwell) Go north 2 miles to Main Street (Rt 66) and turn west (left)             \n\n\n\n\nC.Proceed west through Yukon to Hwy 81 in El Reno and turn south (left)\, there is a Love’s on \n\n\nthe northwest corner. \n\n\n\n\nD.Traveling on Hwy 81\, go about ½ mile south.  Turn west (right) to the on ramp for I-40 west \n\n\nbound.  Go all the way to Clinton \n\n\n\n\nE.Continue west on I-40 to the Gary Blvd exit and turn north (right). \n\n\n\n\nF.Go north about 1 mile and arrive at the Oklahoma Route 66 Museum. \n\n\n\n\n \n\n\n\n\nLunch: Lamborn’s Rt 66 Café at 301 W Gary Blvd in Clinton. We will proceed together to the \n\n\nrestaurant after the museum. \n\n\n\n\n \n\n\n\n\n DIRECTIONS BACK TO OKC – Typically\, members will return to the city\, or their hometown\, as they \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\ncomplete their visit at the destination. As some members like to spend more or less time at the destination so \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nwe do not usually Pony Drive home.

The museum offers visitors a personal journey through the history of the nation’s most revered highway. Encounter the iconic ideas\, images\, and myths of the Mother Road. Learn about the dreams and the labor needed to make the road a reality. Experience the Dust Bowl as thousands streamed along the road\, away from drought and despair\, and towards the “land of promise.” Listen to the sounds of the Big Band era\, when the roar of the big trucks and the welcome home cries to returning soldiers dominated the road. Sit at the counter or a booth in the 1950s diner and feel the open road as America’s families vacationed along the length of Route 66. You just might overhear the family’s chatter as they eat their lunch. The museum also offers changing special exhibits focusing on the Route 66 experience. \nAdmission fees and gift shop proceeds aid in the daily operations and programs of the Oklahoma Route 66 Museum. \nCOVID-19 Safety Measures\nTo help prevent the spread of COVID-19\, occupancy is limited to no more than thirty visitors in the museum at one time. Visitors will be admitted in the order they arrive. There are outdoor exhibits to view while waiting. Groups of more than eight are not being scheduled at this time. We ask that you practice social distancing by staying six feet away from staff and visitors who are not in your party. \nOHS is requiring face masks in all public areas. Due to current COVID-19 conditions and Oklahoma State Department of Health guidelines\, all visitors\, staff\, volunteers\, contractors\, and vendors are required to wear face masks in public areas of OHS facilities.
