FIRST FORD WINS THE OSUSC GT CLASS CHAMPIONSHIP
Congratulations to OMC member Jonathan Blevins, owner of Chicane 23 speed shop here in Oklahoma City, on his historic win in the OPTIMA Batteries Series. We congratulate, and salute, this historic accomplishment.
Here’s what OPTIMA had to say about his win: Jonathan Blevins’ goal was to take the performance of this 11-year-old Shelby GT500 to a whole new level — to build the “Ultimate Mustang” for the OPTIMA Batteries’ Search for the Ultimate Street Car series.
Blevins, owner of Oklahoma City-based speed shop Chicane 23, made history this past October when his Shelby GT500 became the first Ford to win a regular-season championship in series history, taking the top spot in the OPTIMA Batteries GT Class.
Blevins topped Cliff Elliott’s 2016 Mustang GT by 38 points (1,372 to 1,334) to take home the regular-season title at the final regular-season stop at NOLA Motorsports Park in Avondale, Louisiana
The Shelby is powered by a Gen 2 Aluminator from Ford Performance Parts, topped with a VMP Performance Gen 3 blower, tuned with HP Tuners and producing 827 horsepower at the wheels.
The vehicle, which was originally owned by Blevins’ father, ran its first track event at Carroll Shelby’s 85th Birthday Bash in Las Vegas in 2008. Since then, the car has logged more than 10,000 track miles.
Following Blevins in the OPTIMA Batteries GT Class points championship was Cliff Elliott’s 2016 Ford Mustang GT and Keith Lamming’s 2011 Chevrolet Camaro.
