Oklahoma Region SCCA hosted its first event of the 2018 season Sunday at Remington Park. The course design had a couple technical areas but for the most part was easy to follow and allowed higher speed sections. The event had high attendance with a total of 72 competitors. OMC members included Tyler Garling (2001 GT), Greg Blocker/Zac Blocker co-driving(2016 GT350), new OMC member Clairissa Maples (2015 GT), Shawn Adams (2015 Focus ST), Jessalyn Adams (2014 Fiesta ST), and Christopher Abad (2014 Corvette).
The Mustangs were all in class A – American Muscle with a total of 15 drivers in the class. After the morning session Zac Blocker only had one clean run of four but his time of 40.176 put him in second place behind the class leading time of 39.669. Greg Blocker had 3 clean runs with a best time 40.715 in a 4th place battle with Tyler Garling’s 40.765. Clairissa Maples competing for only about her third event was able to post a time every run with a best of 47.107. The afternoon session was with better weather conditions in hope of times improving. Zac Blocker’s third run was clean and fast with a 39.158 to leapfrog into 1stplace in the class and ultimately 1st place overall as fastest time of the day. Tyler Garling was also able to improve his time in the afternoon with a best of 40.237 and a 3rd place class finish and 6th overall for the day. Greg Blocker was unable to improve his time in the afternoon and his best of 40.715 landed him in 5th place in the class and 9th overall for the event. Clairissa Maples also was unable to improve her time in the afternoon but posted four clean runs, her time placed her 13th in the class and 61st overall.
Jesslyn Adams and Shawn Adams both competed in the Tuner class(10 cars). Jessalyn had a best afternoon raw time of 43.733 , 45th overall and with PAX(Professional Autocross Index) time of 34.155 for 2nd place in class. Shawn Adams last run was his best with a raw time of 41.486, 21st overall and a PAX time of 34.807 for 5th place in class. Christopher Abad competed in Extreme class(15 cars) and had a best raw time of 42.176, 32nd overall and a PAX time of 34.331 for 7th in class.
Overall good day for OMC members with three finishing in the top ten and Zac Blocker with the overall win and fastest time of the event.
